essential oils for beauty

Essential Oils and Skin
Five Top Oils for Skin
Sandalwood
This is a great oil for acne and skin infections in general. It’s a powerful antibacterial and anti fungal
agent. Use a few drops of it in a clay mask base. Use a teaspoon full of bentonite clay, about half a
teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 5 drops of sandalwood. Mix all this together and add more clay or
vinegar to get a creamy consistency. Apply this all over your face and neck and let sit for 5 minutes at
least. Rinse off, tone, and moisturize. Doing this at least once a week should give you great results.
Clary-Sage This is a great oil for acne and it also does a wonderful job with wrinkles and fine lines as
well. Add this oil to your moisturizer. Generally 3 drops to every pump/squeeze of moisturizer is more
than enough.
Geranium This oil works wonders for wrinkles like Clary-sage and is also indicated for disturbed and
sensitive skin, as well as broken capillaries and can be used on either oily or dry skin. This is another one
that can be added to the moisturizer. Add this to your toner, which you can make of half apple cider
vinegar and water (for oily skin) or just water (for dry skin). 3 drops in 1 oz is a good amount to start
with.
Tea Tree Tea tree oil is wonderful for spot treating. It clears up pimples in two days or less and greatly
reduces their reoccurrence due to its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory power. Use tea tree oil directly
on pimples that you would be tempted to "pick at". It’s also a good additive to a toner, preparing it the
same way as the geranium toner above.
Lavender It’s a wonderful skin care oil and belongs here, especially since it is the great balancer.
Lavender does an excellent job at balancing oil production in the skin as well as clearing blemishes and
evening skin tone. It’s indicated for all skin types and even helps to hydrate dry skin. Lavender can be
used at any step in your skincare regimen. It works well in a scrub, toner, mask, or moisturizer and it’s
absolutely fine to use it in all four. Five drops or less is a good amount to begin with in a tablespoon of
any of these. This is also one of the oils that can be used directly on the skin without worry so there is
very little issue of using too much.
Essential Oils for Dry Skin
The best essential oils for dry skin are those that moisturize and provide nourishment to the cells. Dry
skin will usually benefit from:
• Sandalwood
• Gentle Baby
• Roman Chamomile
• Cedarwood
• Rosewood
• Rose
• Patchouli
• Helichrysum
• Myrrh
These oils can be applied neat (straight on the skin), or they can be mixed into a small amount of extra
virgin olive oil, avocado seed oil, virgin coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, or another pure base oil.
Essential Oils for Acne
Acne is produced by dirt, bacteria, and natural facial oils (or sebum) that builds up and creates
inflammation. Stress and hormones can also be a factor. The best essential oils to treat acne include:
• Melaleuca
• Eucalyptus
• Clary sage
• Lavender
• Geranium
• Chamomile
• Rosewood
• Cypress
*Lemongrass will help balance pH, decongest the lymphatics and stimulate circulation
Thieves Foaming Hand may also be helpful
As with the oils recommended for dry skin, these oils can be applied directly to the areas with acne or
pimples, or they can be mixed into a base oil like almond or jojoba.Essential Oils for Oily Skin
Oily skin usually occurs where skin care products have been overused. The skin attempts to compensate by
overproduction of natural skin oils. Whether or not this is the cause, some of the best essential oils to balance
oily skin include:
• Lavender
• Bergamot
• Cypress
• Nutmeg
• Orange*
• Lemongrass
• Helichrysum
• Melaleuca
• Chamomile
Frankincense
Clary sage
•
These oils can usually be applied neat (straight on the skin) but don't be afraid to use a small amount of extra
virgin olive oil or another base oil to dilute if they sting or seem too strong. *Caution-photosensitivity
Essential Oils for Wrinkles, Bruises, Scars and More
Other skin concerns and conditions may also benefit from pure essential oils.
• Wrinkles– Frankincense, sandalwood, lavender, Helichrysum, patchouli, cypress, geranium
• Bruises – Helichrysum, lavender, rosewood
• Scars – Helichrysum, lavender, hyssop, cypress, frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood
• Stretch Marks – Lavender, frankincense, geranium, myrrh, Gentle Baby
To Rejuvenate and heal: Rosewood
Prevent and Retard Wrinkles: Lavender, Spikenard, Myrrh
Regenerate: Geranium, Helichrysum, Spikenard
Restore Skin Elasticity: Rosewood, Lavender, or Ylang Ylang with Lavender
Moles: 1-2 drops Oregano (NEAT)
Home Spa without chemicals: Citrus oils combined with a little (very little) cinnamon are luscious and
when combined with organic sugar and V-6 are gently exfoliating and leave the skin incredibly soft and
hydrated. Use a soak for hands (or feet) with bath gel base and just a drop or two of Highest Potential and
finish with Sensation Lotion. Animal Scents and a warm towel will soften and soothe heels, elbows, knees -
any spot that's rough. For beautiful nails buff with a buffing sponge until pink and glowing - very attractive
and not a drop of polish is needed!

ointment for a particular health challenge. What a simple and easy way to introduce someone to the
awesome power and wonder of Young Living Essential Oils. Let your creative juices flow!
Have fun and enjoy your new creations.
Supplies you’ll need:
Rose Ointment from Young Living (a mildly scented essential oil ointment for topical use that is ideally
suited for enhancing with more essential oils to create your personal blend
Essential oils selected for your recipe
Small stainless steel sauce pan (one cup is ideal)
Label to mark your new creation
Optional – smaller jars for lip balms or for sharing (may be purchased at www.abundant-health4u.com )
Basic Instructions you will follow:
1. Scoop out the Rose Ointment into the saucepan
2. Drop the essential oils from the recipe into the empty Rose Ointment container. (do not wipe the
container clean, just use a blunt knife or spatula to empty most of the contents)
3. Warm the Rose Ointment on medium high heat until melted, remove from heat and let cool 2-5
minutes. Wiggle the pan around – like the Jiffy Pop popcorn – so you get everything melted on
the lowest heat possible.
4. Pour melted Rose Ointment back into its container (which now has your added essential oils).
The melted Rose Ointment will automatically mix with the added essential oils.
5. Let sit uncovered until solid. DO NOT place in refrigerator or freezer to hasten this process. You
will be left with a hole in the middle of the jar. Hardening should only take about one hour,
depending on your room air temperature.
6. Label and use.
Add the following essential oils to the 2 ounce jar of Rose Ointment. All numbers preceding the essential
oil name are drops. When creating your own recipe, keep the number of drops to 10 per 2 ounces of
ointment base. A few of the recipes below use more than the suggested drops. Do not use more than eight
single oils or three blends in your creation

Testimonials
I have had wonderful results with Patchouli. After I wash my face, I use 2-3 drops of Patchouli. It may help acne,
protects against UV radiation, tightens loose skin, prevents wrinkles, heals chapped skin and so on. My face has
never looked better. I receive compliments frequently. Plus, this summer my face never burned in the sun. This is a
great oil for both men and women.
Enjoying the sun, Barb
Myrrh is great for the skin. I use Myrrh in V6 when I do my wraps and it will draw little rods of petrochemicals out
of my belly. (Glad to get them off my reproductive organs.) But since Myrrh is an analgesic and it supports the skin,
any rashes or reactions don't itch or irritate me.
By the way, spring is here and so is more sunshine. Put half a 15 ml bottle of Myrrh in a 3.8 ounce bottle of V6 to
use as sunscreen. You can add Sandalwood to it if you want to improve the youthfulness of your skin. Tiffany
“My first exposure to Young Living was doing cancer research using their line of essential oils. What impressed me
the most about Young Living was the quality, purity and consistency of their products. So, when I heard about their
new skin care regimen that utilized the benefits of essential oils, I knew I had to try it! This product is unique
because it combines the technology of DNA recovery enzymes with pure essential oils, to create a synergy not found
in other anti-aging products on the market. As a committed user, I am so impressed with the way A·R·T has made
my skin feel. Its ability to moisturize my dry skin without weighing it down or clogging my pores is critical for me.
Even my husband has noticed my softer, clearer skin! As a scientist, I am very impressed with the research and the
quality of ingredients in these products, but as a woman, I am enjoying the way it makes my skin feel and benefiting
from the results!” Nicole Stevens, Biochemist
